The first one we did was in the state park where we camped and was the easiest to find.
For the second one we had to drive on a very bumpy powerline road and hike another 200 feet and go up a steep bank before Conner spotted the ammo box. Since we didn't bring anything along to exchange, we didn't take anything from it. The view of the surrounding forrest and valley was worth the extra effort it took to find this one.
Of all places to be trapsing around and looking like you've lost something.....
a cemetery! The "treasure" was not acutally in the cemetery, but in a patch of trees 20 feet behind the cemetery .
The last hunt was my favorite, but that's because I was the one who found it. We were at the side of the road at a little picnic pavillion, on our hands and knees, because we knew it was going to be a microcache, so anywhere was possible. In the picture I'm pointing to where it was hidden. It was just big enough to contain a roll of paper to list who had found it and when.
It's amazing to see what people will do for some fun and adventure. We all enjoy it and are excited to do more. We have gone "treasure hunting" before but had to go with friends because we didn't have our own gps unit. But that is all behind us now, because today Karl's very own gps arrived in the mail. You know him, he's got to research everything on the web before he finds the best deal!
