October camping

This weekend we went on our final camping trip of the year at Leonard Harrison State Park. The park is at the top of the PA Grand Canyon near Wellsboro. I always love to see God's beauty, and the fall leaves rank up there as my favorite! It was past peak for the foliage but there was still a lot of COLOR.

We spent most of weekend trying to stay warm. It barely made it into the low 50's during the day, and at night it was in the 20's! Talk about COLD! Praise the Lord for campers with heat!

Saturday morning we all hiked down the Turkey Path trail to the bottom of the canyon. It wasn't so bad going down...we actually warmed up. But walking the 3/4 mile back up with 5 layers of clothing on was the challenging part!

Saturday afternoon the boys and their fathers went geocaching. I told Karl to take the camera along, but of course, he wouldn't. And wouldn't you know, they saw a bald eagle in flight!! The girls and their mothers went into Wellsboro to do some shopping. There were lots of cute antique stores.

We all enjoyed our weekend in "God's Country", but I think it is safe to say that we will be ready for more camping when the weather warms up next spring!
